Getting Lost

Coyote I Say, 2013

We was in the darkest place in the trees
Your shinin eyes was all I could see
You was running round me nipping and teasin
Your cold nose and hot fur was so pleasin

I stepped blind ahead
I had a feelin of dread
Every time I couldn’t sense where you were
Every time I lost the brush of your fur

Coyote, I say,
Coyote, I say,
Don’t leave me stranded in them dark black woods

I hear you howlin and a yippin as we go
You say, “Girl, follow me, I’ll lead you to the road”
I wanna know you’re tellin me no lies
But I see that starry twinkle in your eyes

Going further in this deep dark black
And I know now that there ain’t no goin back
Oh Coyote man you’re leading me away
Oh Coyote please don’t lead me astray

Coyote, I say,
Coyote, I say,
Don’t leave me stranded in them dark black woods

I call, “Coyote come and stay close to me
Don’t wanna lose you cause I can’t damn see”
You mosey over wind your body round my heart
I say “Coyote please let’s never ever part”

I dug my fingers in the fur round your neck
Smelled your wild wild sweet sweet breath
And then you ran off in the deep deep black
And Coyote I don’t think you’re never comin back

Coyote, I say,
Coyote, I say,
Don’t leave me stranded in them dark black woods

Coyote, I say,
Coyote, I say,
Don’t leave me stranded in them dark black woods
